Microblading Training: What You’ll Learn

As one of the most popular trends to hit the beauty industry in recent years, many aspiring beauty professionals are picking up the skill of microblading to give themselves a competitive edge. For all its appeal in terms of career opportunities, microblading isn’t for everyone, and it’s important to know what to expect before enrolling in a rigorous training program.

Allure Microblading Academy was one of the first beauty schools in Houston to offer training in semi-permanent makeup and its “brow architecture” areas of expertise, so we understand what it takes to develop a truly comprehensive and effective microblading curriculum. In this article, we’ll review what students can expect from our microblading courses, so you can decide if you’re up for the task before completing your online registration.

A Quick Word on Microblading

A question we often get is: What’s the difference between eyebrow tattoos and microblading? For one, an eyebrow tattoo is a permanent or near-permanent procedure that uses a thicker needle to inject ink directly into the skin, which has usually been shaved or severely tweezed in advance. Ink that is deeply etched into the skin is unlikely to disappear completely, but it will fade and, over time, may even turn into an unnatural bluish-green shade. Yikes!

By contrast, microblading uses an extremely precise needle, combined with delicate and intentional “brush strokes” to feather pigment into the natural hair on the brow. Pigment is different from ink in that it is derived from organic sources, and it fades over time without losing its original hue. This creates a fuller, healthier look that provides long-lasting and low-maintenance results. Oh, and it only lasts between 12 and 18 months, so if you decide you want to adjust the shape or thickness of your brows after getting an initial treatment, you can easily do so without fear of any permanent damage or unwanted results.

What To Expect From A Microblading Course

As with any educational institution, you should expect the curriculum for a microblading course to vary between academies. At American Microblading Academy, we provide three different types and levels of brow training, each with its own specific duration and class subject material, but no matter which version of a microblading course you take, you’ll find an educational experience that is equally high in quality and beneficial in terms of results for the participant.

Although courses vary slightly in the specific subjects they cover and the extent to which they’re explored, you can expect to learn several or all of the following in an AMA microblading course:

  • Basic to advanced microblading techniques, tips, and tricks
  • A free microblading kit ($900 value) upon completion of any of our three courses
  • In-person instruction from seasoned industry professionals
  • How to use tools and products in a proper and professional manner
  • Best practices for sanitizing, sterilizing, and creating safe working conditions
  • A variety of brow architecture designs and how to recommend appropriate styles based on a client’s needs
  • Color theory and choosing the correct pigment
  • Client waiver paperwork and beauty industry legal guidelines
  • Identifying skin type, texture, and undertones and the techniques optimized for each
  • And so much more!

Entry Level Microblading

Individuals new to the world of brow design — or cosmetology careers in general — make perfect candidates for our Entry Level Microblading course. No prior training, experience, or licensure is required to enroll — a desire to learn the art of the arch is all that’s needed! In addition to in-class practical experience, you’ll also be immersed in lectures that teach you marketing techniques and business tactics so that once your coursework is completed, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running and start your beauty career with all the skills a future salon pro needs.

Hands-On Microblading

This intermediate course gives students more time and intensive instruction on the art of microblading, from making specific brush strokes to refining your execution of arches and pigment “hairlines”. We prefer that students who enroll in a Hands-On microblading course have at least some background in facial aesthetics or haircutting and/or coloring.

Unlimited Microblading Training

Our longest and most popular option in brow beauty coursework is our Unlimited Microblading Training. Over three full days of in-depth instruction, participants will acquire a comprehensive understanding of all aspects involved with microblading procedures and marketing your own business or brand as a beauty professional. As an added bonus, we provide students with the option to retake the Unlimited Microblading course as many times as necessary — without paying another dime! Just a one-time tuition fee gives you the ability to learn, refine, and perfect your abilities as a brow artist, turning novices of needlework into masters of semi-permanent makeup in just a few sessions of academy-based study.
